By the way, I gotta actually be serious here for a moment and say, as a Red Sox fan, how much I was hoping Wakefield would get the no hitter. Wakefield is my favorite player, even if he's not the best, and it would have been nice to see. But even if he didn't make history, Wake did great, especially when the Sox were amidst a 3 game slide and had used their bullpen for 11.2 innings the night before. Gave the Red Sox exactly what they needed and far more than they expected.
So, this is my shoutout to my main man Tim Wakefield for coming up big when the team needed him and being an awesome guy in general
Of course, you'd think that just by the sheer mathematics of it, Wakefield would have pitched a no hitter sometime between when he entered the league during the McKinley administration and now.
